As a nation, Finland has come a long way since its independence from Russia one hundred years ago.
Undeterred by the relative lack of natural resources, the people of Finland were united in building a nation. Finns strove for a higher quality of life for all and were determined to never have their independence taken away from them again.Today, Finland has grown into a welfare state with a somewhat good global reputation in the fields of technology, healthcare, innovation and design.
In recent years however, globalization has brought about fear, uncertainty and tension to the Finnish society. Globalization has ignited greater discourse regarding the implications of “immigration” and “multiculturalism” to the country. To some Finns, “multiculturalism” is a dirty word and definitely some foreigners staying in Finland face racist discrimination on a daily basis.
Enjoy and we look forward to hearing from you!
